Can you break a rental lease if you become disabled & can no longer afford current housing?

My husband has been instructed by his drs to stop work, due to his diabetic condition %26amp; complications of diabetes. We currently live in a mobile, under a rental contrat, which we will NOT be able to afford due to his decrease of income. We need to find more afforable housing, but do not want to be unable to qualify for other housing due to breaking this current lease. Can you break a rental lease if you become disabled %26amp; can no longer afford current housing?
No, these things have no legal effect on your contract, or any other contract for that matter.

You should talk to the landlord about a mutual agreement on how to fairly end the lease early. Can you break a rental lease if you become disabled %26amp; can no longer afford current housing?
You need to contact Social Sevices to help you out at least on the short term. If you intend to default on your lease, then you must give your landlord notice and still pay rent at least through Sept. Then if your landlord is able to find a new tenant, you will be off the hook. If, however, he is not able to find a new tenant, you will be liable for the rent until a new tenant is found or the lease expires. If your husband is going on disability Social services will normally cover the majority of your rent. You may want to have utilities included in your rent, since if they are included, you may be eligible for more benefits.
You are still legally responsible for you rent. I would start looking into disability insurance/payments. Talk with you landlord too.
