I live in North Carolina and recently signed a rental lease and posted a substantial deposit. Now my current landlord has decided not to sell her house and has asked me to stay. Am I locked into the new agreement signed four days ago or if I decide to stay at my current residence can I get my deposit back. Here is where it pays to be nice.
If you call the landlord and explain the situation, they are likely to let you out of the lease.
But understand that as soon as you signed the papers, it was binding.
There is no such thing as a ';grace period'; with NC leases.
