What is legal to ask on a rental lease?

We are filling out a lease for the state of OK. The landlord has asked us to put down our bank info (including acct. #), ssn, and income amount/employer. I know each state has their own lease laws. Can anyone help? What is legal to ask on a rental lease?
those sound like legitimate questions, but we live in CA, the things they can;t ask are about race, religon, sexual oriantaion, but financal things are a must because they need to make sure you can afford to pay rent that you are who you say you are and that your going to remain employed while living there so they don't loose out..What is legal to ask on a rental lease?
I just signed a lease today in NYC, and I had to provide all of my bank statements, tax documents, paystubs, reference letters, offer and signed employment letter, ssn...pretty much everything you can imagine. Everything you said sounds legal to me.

And no, they can't ask anything about race, gender, marital status, etc.
This kind of 'credit check' is very normal and legal. You don't have to answer...and they don't have to give you the living space.

If there are additional rules to living there like no pets, they can have you sigh for that to so they can throw you out ( or threaten with that) if some stray dog follows you home.
They can ask for credit, rental and income refrences to verify that you meet a certain criteria set my management for approval processing.

They cannot ask you any questions that would violate Fair Housing, such as ';what race are you?'; ';are you married'; ';how many children/will there be children'; etc.
