How can I legally get out of my rental lease in NYS?

My mom passed away 3 weeks ago and left me her house. I am currently in a 12month lease with 6 months remaining. With her funeral expenses and other things, I am now in debt. I cannot afford to live here anymore. In NYS can you legally get out of a lease without paying the remainder on it? Any help out there would be greatly appreciated! How can I legally get out of my rental lease in NYS?
Hi,

I used ';Credit Solution'; to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate. Icame across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

The landlord must mitigate their damages, which means that they must attempt to find a replacement tenant.

You would be held liable for the rent until a replacement tenant is found and any costs related to your breach of the lease - advertising costs, agent fees, etc.
no, but talk to the rental company they will usually negotiate with you. they'll give you an amount to break the lease.
