NO! Landlords are NOT responsible for crime in the area so you CANNOT break a lease because of a break in. Think about it: it is not the landlords fault so why should they lose out on rent money because of it?
If you want to break the lease anyway, then you will have to pay what ever your lease states to break it.Is there a law regarding the termination of a rental lease because of tenants fear of another break in?
If you have had a lot of break ins than you could probably get out of it for it being unsafe. But if its only been 1 break in than your just stuck with the lease. By some extra locks and you can even ask your landlord to put bars on your windows. You could even talk to your landlord and ask if they could install a security system and than you can make the monthly payments on it while you live there or you can pay for half of the payment and they can pay the other half.Is there a law regarding the termination of a rental lease because of tenants fear of another break in?
YES, law says you signed, you're bound!
You have legally binding lease.
If you fear for your safety, take self defense class, buy another lock, window locks.
If you fear for your safety, you break the lease and deal with the consequences.
READ the lease carefully and be prepared to pay the penalties. The more notice you give the LL, the more likely they will work with you.
Nope.
Even if you had multiple break-ins, it is not legal grounds to break the lease.
No. Your lease is still binding. Buy another lock
