Breaking a one year rental lease in Ontario (Canada)?

I have recently signed a standard one year lease for an apartment, and I unfortunately have to break it -- due to a new job in an alternate city.





Is it at all possible to break the lease so I can move?


Would I have to pay penalties - if so what are they?


Or pay the remainder of the lease?

I think forfeiting 1 month's rent is typical. Why not sub-lease if you are able to?
