ok i did sign a 1 year lease with my landlord, WHen i moved here i gave my first months and security deposit, Then when i actually got moved in i paid 6 months more in advance. so its been 7 months. Now i have to move for my job. Can my landlord take my security deposit? This is about law and and rental lease agreement?
it should state in your lease under what circumstances you can break it and what amounts you will owe. read your lease or just ask the landlord, the sooner you let them know you are leaving the sooner the apartment can be rented. communication with the landlord should go a long way to helping resolve this to your advantage. the state you are in can also provide some guidelines for you. contact their fair housing administration for help. This is about law and and rental lease agreement?
unless you can sublet the rest of the lease, I would imagine that the landlord can take your security deposit as well as you would owe him for the remaining months of the lease. In other words, try to sublet!
Your deposit is least of your worries. He can charge you with rent for remaining time period on lease. You need to talk with Landlord and reach agreement on your early departure of this can cost you big! You signed a contract for one year that's binding. If you do reach a deal get it in writing
Depends on the release terms in your lease. Most forfit the security deposit if you void the lease.
Nope, he can't take the security deposit, but he can apply it to fixing up the place for the next tenant. The fact that you leave early may increase his costs. And even though your place has people looking at it constantly, there will necessarily be a lag time between the day you vacate and the day it is occupied, for which the landlord is entitled to be paid by you.
